Spam follow up..Friday's Quick Tip

Welcome to your Friday Quick Tip...

So, last week we started talking about my spam folder journey and this week, we'll continue to talk all things Spam Folder and how to avoid it.

My emails were heading to spam. Here's what I did about it…

Reminding you, this is where we left off:

Finally, here's your Quick Tip: Beat the spam folder and start with a well-oiled domain-based email service provider. Your authentication records get dropped through no fault of your own from time to time. Check in with your domains. Make sure you don't have any alerts and when your spidey senses are tingling that your emails are struggling to be delivered, pay attention to it. Get to know your domain hosting service and how they can help you keep your emails landing in inboxes.

This week's tip:

Now that you are sure your domain is correctly set up and you are authenticated, and yes, I can hear the groans and eye rolls already...cut loose the non-engaged subscribers from your list.

It doesn't matter if you're paying a flat fee, or per subscriber, a healthy list is a high-performing list.

Sending emails to readers who delete them, don't open them or never click on anything hurts your overall performance. It's not something you can easily see immediately, but it happens gradually, over time.

And yes, even those readers who say, don't remove me, I buy your books on Amazon. That's great. Now the ball's in your court to strategically get them to click on anything. Use polls, cover reveals, gamify your news, move them over to your website, doesn't matter...they need to engage.

This is no longer something you can dismiss as a stark raving lunatic Holly keeps saying. This one is being dictated by the Googles of the world. They want to see engagement, or they're not delivering your emails to your readers. The end. I'll be back next week to expand on that tip. For now, at the very least, don't send your newsletters to everyone on your list. Exclude the cold subscribers for 30 days and see what happens.

Happy Friday,

Holly

BRAND NEW PROGRAM ALERT!!

Welcome to HDHQ. My brand new monthly membership program. (Only a few days left to get in at $10/month!)

What's included?

  • Every single course I have that's live and not in draft form. Bought my Mailerlite course? You now have access to allll the courses. Bought Email Marketing For Authors? You've got access to allll the courses. (This doesn't include the worksheets and downloadables.)
  • Access to my Thinkific Community Page where you can ask questions and I will ACTUALLY get notified and answer. I'll still host the free, private FB Group, but it's so unreliable over there. I only occasionally know when anything is happening and answer questions sometimes a week later because I had no idea anyone had tagged me.
  • Once a month inside the community page I'll be live teaching you a specific lesson on email marketing.
  • Guest appearances by friends who have areas of expertise and want to share it with you.
  • My evolving Market Like Taylor updates. I'm building this out as we speak but we'll work on working ahead for your marketing and dropping tiny hints to create excitement.
  • Me. This will be the easiest place to find me and chat. Or peer to peer network. Find collabs. Create weird and wonderful partnerships with like-minded peers.
  • Discounts on audits - save 50% on audits for members. Yup, you read that right. (Want an audit? This is easily the most affordable way to get one!)
  • Last minute slot discounts on my service list. When someone cancels, I'll offer that time inside the membership space first at a discounted rate.

We're only just getting started and as I build this up, you get in at a deal. Pre-order your spot ahead of the October 16th launch for only $10/month. The price goes up to $15/month on the 30th of September and $19/month on the 16th of October.

AND you'll get early access to the course content as my updates hit the classes.
